Mindful Retirement brings forward the realization there is a missing aspect to creating a rich, fulfilling retirement.
It is the aspect of Human Preparedness.
Human Preparedness is defined as addressing the mental, emotional, and social issues that impact retirement.
Such as:
In Pre-retirement we have lived in a structured world where our roles were defined by the job/career/education/volunteering/hobbies we engaged in. Then we were measured against the expected results and behaviors of our choice.
For the first time in our lives, we are charged with creating our own structure. There is no one book that tells you how to create a life structure. There is no “retirement” job description. There is no right or wrong way to retire.
To create our life structure, we need to discover our wants, our desires, what fulfills us, who we are, how do we want to live.
We need to discover our thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes. We need to become aware of our self-expectations, and our self-talk.
Awareness gifts us the opportunity to choose how we want to live.
